Weather for Today, September 16: Senamhi Forecast for Last Days of Winter | ANSWERS

The appearance of the sun these days surprised Peruvians in different parts of our country. However, the intense cold continues to manifest itself especially in the early morning and night hours. And unfortunately, National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology of Peru (Senamhi) confirmed that this weather will continue in Lima and it will also drizzle until November. We’ll tell you a lot more below.

The real reason why there will be intense cold and drizzle in Lima until November, according to Senamhi

This situation occurs because the Peruvian Sea presents negative anomalies and causes values below 13 degrees. “If the normal temperature for Lima at night is 13 or 14 degrees, the probability that the temperatures are below that range basically means a degree or half a degree below that,” an expert from Senamhi told América.

“Essentially coastal areas, as the night temperature is strongly modulated by the sea temperature. The sea temperature, as already mentioned in the official statements, still presents negative anomalies. That means it’s colder than usual,” the specialist added.

What is the Senamhi forecast for the end of winter 2024 in Peru

According to Senamhi, winter in Lima, characterized by low temperatures in the morning and at night, will end on September 22 with the arrival of spring. However, the chill is expected to affect the population until mid-August, with temperatures of 10-12°C on the coasts and slightly higher elsewhere. A gradual increase in temperature is expected from the second half of August, which includes warmer days in preparation for the transition to spring.

What else did Senamhi say about the end of winter 2024?

Due to anomalous sea conditions that increased the winds and the feeling of cold, Senamhi announced that the winter of 2024 will be colder than previous years. The coastal areas of Lima were the most affected, where temperatures reached the lowest values, such as La Molina, where a minimum daily temperature of 14.9 °C was recorded on 7 August. Although there may be some sunny days in August, residents are advised to follow the Senamhi guidelines and continue to dress appropriately to avoid health problems related to the cold weather.
