As part of the “ICT Leading Teachers” strategy, the Minister of Education Cali met with leading teachers in the field of using information and communication technologies – ICT to strengthen digital skills in official educational institutions – IEO.
This meeting, held in collaboration with Purposeful Technology System – TecPro System of Editorial Norma, a strategic ally of the Ministry of Education, presented solutions in the field of educational robotics, the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence. The goal of this alliance is to connect existing educational robotics in IEO with these emerging technologies and build a comprehensive educational innovation ecosystem strategy from the school.
40 teachers from official educational institutions – IEOs – strengthen their work with innovations
“We invite all leading ICT teachers to this event developed in collaboration with TecPro from Editorial Norma at the Colombo American Cultural Center Auditorium, who facilitated it for us in support of the training of teachers in everything related to it. Let’s look at the solutions from robotics to the problems they may have in IEO, this means we’re getting to the importance of computational thinking and programming, which will be fundamental to the work we’ll be doing over these three years. and a half that we have left to be able to ensure that boys and girls and young people can really advance their learning from other perspectives, perspectives that require technology and that already put them, shall we say, at the level of thinking that they need to they were there,” said Deputy Minister for Education Quality Mónica López Castro.
ICT lead teachers have the experience and commitment to use ICT technologies in the classroom, the main function of which is to:
- To support the effective use of ICT in pedagogical practice.
- Train other teachers in the use of ICT.
- Advise educational institutions in the implementation of ICT projects.
- Participate in the creation of public policies related to ICT and education.

Implementation of the Development Plan
The “ICT Teacher Leaders” strategy is part of the “Cali, Pacific City of Colombia” District Development Plan and the 2020-2030 ICT Ten-Year Plan for Education, which aims to strengthen the digital skills of teachers and students. and transform Cali educational facilities into spaces of innovation and learning.
The link between the Ministry of Education and TecPro will enable leading ICT teachers to:

- Share experiences and best practices with other teachers.

Building educational innovation ecosystems in Cali is a process that requires the commitment and cooperation of all actors involved, and therefore this strategy is an important step in the process of technological transformation in education in the city.
