Robots in classrooms to find occupations, from preschool to high school

Next year, the Community will introduce new technological elements to public schools and institutes to support students’ computer and digital learning.

The classrooms of the future are already here. And in public schools, where the presence of robotic advances to assist lecturers will be a reality in September. The Community of Madrid Next year, public classrooms in Madrid will introduce new technological features to support students’ computer and digital learning, strengthening their skills in subjects such as programming and roboticsand contribute to the awakening of early vocations among students. This is an action that will take place at all educational levels with varying degrees of application depending on the course and the number of students, as announced by the digitization department.

It is an innovative initiative embedded in School 4.0 program with which, thanks to an investment of 23.6 million euros by 2025, the regional executive will integrate devices such as teaching robots, programming boards, microcomputers or sensors in 1,670 preschools, primary and secondary schools during the next academic year, so a total of 560,5000 students with it can work with them in different scenarios. In addition, part of the provision includes the training of teaching staff so that they are able to manage activities.

All phases

In this way, early childhood teachers can, for example, use a learning robot model to help children become familiar with technologies and to progress with them in the development of computational thinking. They will also serve to consolidate and strengthen the development of skills in the area of logical, visual and spatial thinking. At Primary, this initiative tries to introduce children to programming and train them in the educational use of digitization as an active tool.

For this, floor robots and programmable boards will be made available to the teaching team to work on. Students’ first contact with more complex technologies, such as virtual reality, will also be addressed through specific technological accessories.

Finally, for ESO students, tools will be aimed at increasing knowledge in information and data, programming or cyber security, among others. Thus, microcomputers, more complex robots and other technological peripherals adapted to training activities will be added to the teaching material of computer coding.

digitization consultant, Miguel López-Valverdebelieves that in the context in which the new generations will grow and develop, “it is very important that they have the skills and resources to face the challenges presented by the new society in which they will move”.

In this sense, López-Valverde clarifies that the tools that will be provided to public schools are nothing more than a complement to the education they receive in the centers, “a great support that will allow them to function in the digital environment and that will stimulate your interest in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) de manera gradually».

“Offering Madrid students access to customized programming languages and friendly robotic devices makes it easier to integrate new technologies into classrooms from the earliest educational stages,” says the advisor.
