Extremadura researcher María Llorens-Martín was awarded the XXIX. the Carmen and Severo Ochoa Award for Research in Molecular Biology.
Dr. Llorens-Martín, director of the Laboratory of Neurogenesis and Neurodegenerative Diseases of the Adult Hippocampus at the Severo Ochoa Molecular Biology Center (CSIC-UAM), was awarded for her studies on the birth of new neurons in the hippocampal region of the brain.
The 12,000-euro award ceremony will take place on November 7 at 6 p.m. at the Royal National Academy of Medicine in Spain, the organization said in a press release.
During the ceremony, the Director of the National Center for Cancer Research (CNIO) María Blasco will deliver the XXIX. memorial lecture by Carmen and Severo Ochoa.
The presentation of this award is part of the program of events of Week I Severo Ochoa (November 4 to 8), promoted on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Carmen and Severo Ochoa Foundation.
