In an extraordinary achievement for our country, six Argentinian students from the Faculty of Information Technologies Interamerican Open University (UAI) they were crowned world champions in the tournament robotics Robocup 2024 which took place in the Netherlands.

This prestigious competition that takes place in the city Eindhoven From July 17 to 23, it brought together teams from around the world to compete in a series of demanding technological tests.

Argentina team made up of students under 19, he proved his skill in the test Great teamin the category “Simulated rescue“of robocup, in which he shared First place with the Taiwanese team. Robocup is recognized as one of the most important student robotics competitions that evaluates and highlights technological skills, leadership and collaboration in solving disruptive problems.

It’s a dream come true and recognition of hard work. I am excited to exchange, collaborate and give feedback with other students. I think it’s a bit of a competition idea as well,” he said. Martin Talamona student at the Galileo Galilei School.

Including Argentine representatives who traveled to the Netherlands Martin Talamon y Ian Molina from Da Vinci College, while the rest of the team, consisting of Zoe Casares y Milagros Lalli (both from Da Vinci College) and Tania Arenas y Joaquin Bares (both from Colegio General Belgrano), stayed in Buenos Aires and provided support from afar. Students belong to schools in the Vaneduc Group.

“It’s a unique opportunity to learn and grow. “I am excited to interact with students from all over the world,” he noted. Ian Molina.

The participation and success of these young people was made possible by support and guidance Gonzalo ZabalaDirector of the Laboratory of Robotics and Teaching Technology Center for Advanced Studies in Information Technology (CAETI) UAI and Alicia Siripedagogue and coordinator of the department of informatics and educational robotics of the same institution.

Zabala emphasized the importance Super team test and noted that it “emphasizes the team’s technological, leadership and collaborative working skills in solving disruptive technology problems”.

27th edition Robocup included 17 competitions in five different categories, among which is the “Simulated Rescue” category. In this test, teams had to respond to computerized disaster scenarios of varying complexity, identify and rescue virtual victims from danger zones. The determination and effort of the Argentine team was evident at every stage of the competition, demonstrating a high level of preparation and technical skill.

The final achievements of the Argentine team were:

1st place in the super team test: This test is the most important of the entire event, emphasizing technology skills, leadership and collaboration in solving disruptive technology problems.

2nd place in the technical test: The team demonstrated its technical mastery in this challenging competition.

5th place in General Junior Simulated Rescue Test: A solid performance in general competition.

In addition to the rescue category, a competition was also presented robotic soccer competition and challenges home assistance robots, from preparing meals to helping patients with reduced mobility.

In particular, robot soccer competitions are attracting a lot of attention because of the organizers’ ambitious goal: to develop a team of robots that can beat a human world champion team by 2050.

“This triumph not only elevates the name of the university but also highlights the excellence and dedication of its students to technological innovation. UAI congratulates the entire team for their impressive success in Robocup 2024. This success is a testament to the talent and dedication of young Argentines,” the university said in a statement.

Ahead of the trip, Alicia Siri expressed her excitement saying, “This is an exciting time for our students. Robocup is not only a competition, but also an invaluable opportunity learning and personal growth and professional. This is the second time in history that Vaneduc Group students have participated in Robocup, after participating in 2004.
