We’ve already seen robotic mechanisms solve the Rubik’s Cube in 0.637 seconds here, which is an impressive time. Now, Mitsubishi has shown off a high-precision robotic arm that can do the same 0.305 seconds, which is a Guinness record in its category. (In the video, he does it in 0.204s, but then the rules of the competition were slightly modified, so the official record is 0.305s.)
This means that the rotation of each face (90 degrees) is done in 9 thousandths of a second. Something that requires precise control of the engines, perfect lubrication and who knows how many rounds will be destroyed in the tests.
Considering that the current record for a human to solve the cube is 3.134 seconds, the robot ten times faster. Simply amazing.
